Den Helige Ande är vårt sigill för frälsningens dag. Den så kallade "Frälsningsbönen" är inte mer än startskottet (vändpunkten om du tänker på omvändelse) för det lopp vi har framför oss. Vi löper hoppets lopp, men inte i egen kraft. Anden i oss för oss mot målet. Det hänger inte på hur pass tränad vår benmuskulatur är (för att fortsätta använda bilden av ett lopp) eller hur optimala våra löpsteg är, som gör att vi lyckas nå målet. Inget vi kan göra av egen kraft har något evighetsvärde, utan det är bara Guds Ande som kan göra det övernaturliga och förvandla en människa från smutsiga trasor till en ren, vacker klädnad. Vi människor vill gärna tro att vi kommer en bra bit på vägen då vi krampaktigt försöker tänja stegen och i själen göra Guds arbete.
"Jag har kämpat den goda kampen, jag har fullbordat loppet, jag har bevarat tron. Nu ligger rättfärdighetens segerkrans i förvar åt mig. Den skall Herren, den rättfärdige domaren, ge åt mig på den dagen, och inte bara åt mig utan åt alla som älskar hans återkomst." (2 Tim. 4:7-8)
"I honom har också ni, sedan ni hört det sanna budskapet, evangeliet om er frälsning, ja, i honom har också ni, sedan ni kommit till tro, tagit emot den utlovade helige Ande som ett sigill. Anden är en handpenning på vårt arv, att hans eget folk skall förlossas, för att hans härlighet skall prisas." (Ef. 1:13-14)
Men vi är Kristi kropp och Anden är energin, kraften och impulserna från huvudet, som är Jesus Kristus. Vad kan en kropp göra utan impulser från huvudet och hjärnan? Och vad kan en kropp göra utan energin som kommer av maten vi äter (som i vårt fall bör vara Ordet, Jesus) och blodet som pumpar i våra ådror? Utan Andens ledning blir våra gärningar endast just det, våra egna gärningar. Utan Andens ledning kan vi göra gott och i egen kraft vara goda, men ändå inte låta Gud åstadkomma förändring och förvandling. Vi ser att många kristna får "håll" och "krampar" under loppet och det tror vi har att göra med att vi troende ofta försöker att göra det enbart Gud kan göra. Men som väl är så är inte Gud sen med att överösa oss med kraft, tro och styrka när vi ber Honom. Och vi får aldrig glömma att Han är vår befriare. Vi kan vila från våra försök att ersätta Guds kraft med egna gärningar genom den eviga sabbat vi fått genom Jesu blod. För livet vi lever i Jesus lever vi INTE för oss själva, utan för Gud. När vi låter Jesus leva SITT liv GENOM oss så är resultatet en ofattbar frid mitt i livets alla omständigheter.
"och inte håller sig till honom som är huvudet. Från honom får hela kroppen den tillväxt som Gud ger, stödd och sammanhållen som den är av sina leder och senor." (Kol. 2:19)
"Ty jag har genom lagen dött bort från lagen för att jag skall leva för Gud. Jag är korsfäst med Kristus, och nu lever inte längre jag, utan Kristus lever i mig. Och det liv jag nu lever i min kropp, det lever jag i tron på Guds Son, som har älskat mig och utgivit sig för mig. Jag förkastar inte Guds nåd. Om rättfärdighet kunde vinnas genom lagen, då hade Kristus dött förgäves." (Gal 2:19-21)
"Don't ask yourself 'What would Jesus do?' Ask yourself, 'What is Jesus doing right now?'"
The Race of Hope
God's Holy Spirit is our seal for the day of salvation. The so-called "Sinner's Prayers" is merely the starting point (rather a turning point if you think of repentence) of the race we have ahead of us. We run in a race of hope, but not in our own strength. The Holy Spirit in us moves us towards the finish line. What makes us reach that line has nothing to do with how well our leg muscles are trained (to continue use the image of a race) or how optimal our running pace is. Nothing we can do in our own strength has any eternal value, but it is only God's Spirit that can transform a person from dirty rags to a pure, beautiful robe. We humans like to believe that we get pretty far towards the goal when we tensly stretch our stride and in our soul do God's job.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing." (2 Tim. 4:7-8)
"In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory." (Eph. 1:13-14)
But we are the Body of Christ and the Holy Spirit is the energy and power and the impulses från the head, which is Jesus Christ. What can a body do without the impulses from the head and the brain? What can a body do without the energy that comes from the food that we eat (which in our case should be the Word, Jesus) and the blood that pumps in our veins? Without the impulses from the Spirit our deeds becomes nothing less than just that - our own deeds. Without the guidance of the Spirit we could do good and in our own strength be good, but would even then not let God accomplish change and transformation. We see many christians get a "stitch" and "spasm" along the race and we think that has to do with that we believers often try to do what only God can do. One can take comfort in that God is quick to overflow us with power, faith and strength when we ask Him to. We should never forget that He is our deliverer! We can always rest from our attempts to replace God's power with our own deeds, through the eternal sabbath we have through the blood of Jesus. Because the life we in Jesus, we do NOT live for our selves, but for God. When we let Jesus live HIS life THROUGH us, the result is inconceivable peace in the midst of life's all circumstances.
"and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God." (Col. 2:19)
"For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for(AN) if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose." (Gal 2:19-21)
